Job Description

We’re looking for a creative, proactive and hands-on Communications Partner to join our People & Culture team to help bring to life the experience of working at the NRMA.

In this role, you will partner with our Roadside business to deliver communication strategies, campaigns and content that inform, engage and inspire our people. This is a role where you’ll be close to the business, shaping messages that create clarity, support change and help our frontline teams feel connected to the NRMA’s objectives, vision, culture and values.

If you love storytelling, enjoy working across a complex business, and know how to turn important messages into engaging content that lands with different audiences, this is great opportunity for you!

This full-time permanent role offers a hybrid work arrangement across our Sydney Olympic Park, Sydney CBD offices and working from home, as agreed and required for the role.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and deliver communication plans and strategies aligned to business priorities, including tactical frontline engagement plans that can be monitored, refined and improved.
  • Partner on key projects, change initiatives and business transformations, creating communication plans that support employee understanding, promote buy-in and bring people on the journey.
  • Act as an embedded communications advisor to key stakeholders, helping shape messages that inform, provide clarity, set the right tone and inspire our people.
  • Work closely with stakeholders across the business to advise on key messages, communication rhythms and the channels that will best engage and reach our people, especially frontline teams.
  • Set clear service expectations with stakeholders, including delivering high-quality first drafts within agreed timeframes and aligning upfront on priorities and timelines.
  • Plan and execute communication campaigns and initiatives, ensuring the right message is delivered through the right channel at the right time.
  • Develop creative strategies and tactics to increase employee awareness, participation and engagement.
  • Produce clear, engaging and audience-led communication materials that support change and can be adapted across different channels.
  • Create written and visual content across channels including news stories, internal social posts, presentation slides and business updates, with a strong connection to frontline audiences.
  • Coordinate and prioritise the communications calendar, balancing competing requests based on business impact, sequencing and audience needs.
  • Work with media and communications stakeholders to provide content ideas and input for external channels, including LinkedIn, aligned to internal campaign messaging.
  • Help keep our external careers content refreshed, relevant and engaging.

What You’ll Bring

You’ll bring a mix of strategic thinking, strong writing, creativity and practical business partnering capability. Ideally, you will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism or a related field
  • Change management qualification preferred but not essential
  • 5+ years’ experience in a communications partner role, supporting stakeholders at different levels of a medium-large organisation
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand business priorities and translate them into clear communication outcomes
  • Exceptional writing capability, with the ability to tailor messaging and capture the attention of different audience types
  • Experience communicating with large frontline teams, or a strong understanding of how to engage operational audiences
  • Creative thinking and a genuine passion for storytelling
  • Confidence using communication tools and platforms, such as content management systems, social media management tools and analytics software
  • Familiarity with external brand representation and content creation across LinkedIn and other external media channels
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise, manage competing requests and work to tight deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work across teams, functions and senior leadership groups
  • Curiosity, initiative and a continuous improvement mindset, always looking for better ways to work, collaborate and communicate
