From Paralegal to Patrol Manager

 
Say hello to “Gazza”, also known more formally as Tracy. Gazza is a Field Team Manager, who leads a group of Patrol mechanics, servicing the Newcastle region. From ordering parts to motivating her people, the role’s breadth is as big as Gazza’s personality, and she’s often described as a “one-of-a-kind" leader in a male-dominated industry. Safe to say, it’s a big change from the Land and Environment court where she spent 10 years as a Paralegal.  

Tracy attributes the NRMA to giving her the platform to explore “many careers in one”, having opportunities that she never thought could’ve existed, let alone in one organisation. Tracy’s broadened her knowledge and expanded her skillset markedly, from being on the tools, to managing large teams (over 30 people) in the Customer Contact Centres, to on-the-job training where she learns from her own Patrol mechanic team members, who boast a tenure of more than 460 years – Tracy's doing it all.   

Further, her innate passion for “shaking things up” has been harnessed as the NRMA fosters an environment where she can actively speak up and ask can we do things better for our members? All while providing her with the flexibility to manage her outside-of-work responsibilities and her most important role of being a single mum. 

Tracy’s excited to see what comes next, and this is just one story from our NRMA family, so, to anyone out there, especially women in a male-dominated industry, Tracy says, “just give it a go.”
