How to create a standout resume

Crafting a resume that stands out can be the key to landing your dream job. At The NRMA, our Talent Acquisition Team sees hundreds of resumes, and we’ve gathered some top tips to help you shine!

Keep it clear and concise

Be brief: Aim for one page if you're early in your career, and no more than two pages if you have extensive experience.
Easy to read: Use a clean, professional format with clear headings and consistent fonts.

Tailor your resume

Match the job description: Customise your resume for the role. Highlight the skills and experiences that align with the job requirements.
Use keywords: Incorporate relevant keywords from the job posting. This helps get your resume past automated screening tools.

Focus on achievements, not just duties

Quantify success: Use numbers to show how you’ve made a difference. For example, Increased sales by 20% within six months.
Highlight specific projects: Mention any projects or roles where you made a significant impact.

Include only relevant information

Relevant experiences: List jobs and skills that apply to the position you’re looking for. Past jobs or skills that aren’t relevant can distract from your qualifications.
Education and certifications: Include your highest level of education, any relevant certifications, or ongoing professional training.

Proofread, then proofread again!

No errors: Spelling or grammatical errors can be a turnoff. Use tools like Grammarly or ask a friend to review your resume.
Consistency is key: Ensure consistency in your formatting and verb tenses throughout the document.

Remember, your resume is your personal marketing tool. It's your first chance to make a good impression, so make it count! If you're ready to put these tips into action, check out our current job openings and apply today.

Let's see where your professional journey can go with the NRMA.
